Howdy There!! My name is Stephanie Holifield, I have over 35 years of dog training experience. I began training at the tender age of 5. I started in the show ring with my mother, teaching the puppies how to stack and be shown, basic house manners and the like.. I have always had a passion for training and over the years I have developed my own techniques and style of training. I am confident that I will provide positive results.
A little bit about myself – I was born and raised in Ocean Springs, MS. As previously mentioned, I began training when I was about 5 years old. My mother was an avid hobbyist and took interest in the Chinese Shar Pei. My mother taught me how to show the dogs in the ring. As a Junior Showman, I had a lot of routines to practice. Not only is it challenging for the dog to learn, but difficult to remember all of the positions to walk and what to do at each stop. The dog shows were a great learning experience and thus began my journey into training. I got MY first dog when I graduated high school. After practicing with many different breeds in the show ring, I determined the Rat Terrier would be my breed of choice. I picked up a puppy fresh out of graduation; little did I know this would be one of the most intelligent dogs I’ve had in my lifetime. Within the first few months, we bonded and I began the training. I started out with basic training and gradually increased the level of difficulty of the commands. Bijou was a very clever terrier, sometimes energy levels were off the charts. She had so much energy but finally started to calm down around 2 years old. My favorite command ‘go get’, learned the names of all of her toys and would bring them to you upon command. Bijou ended up having an auto-immune disorder that the vets could never really diagnose. Bijou sadly passed at 7 years old to lymphoma. She exceeded the vet’s expectations and lived 6 months longer than they estimated. RIP Bijou.
Over the years, I have had many different doggos, each with unique personalities and skills in terms of obedience and manners. We will meet them here shortly.
